On the personal side

  • International Travel

I’m a world traveler at heart. I’ve spent 4 months in Costa Rica, two 3 month stints in Southeast Asia, 6 months in Australia, and several shorter trips to Finland, Iceland, Ecuador (Galapagos Islands), Belize, and more. Ask me about my next adventure!

  • Scuba Diving

I love scuba diving - I’m a certified dive master. My favorite scuba diving locations include the Similan Islands (Thailand), Komodo (Indonesia), and Sipadan (Borneo). Up next? Raja Ampat and Palau

  • Mindfulness

I have been incorporating meditation into my daily routine since 2018. A visit to Thich Nhat Hanh’s home temple in Hue, Vietnam in 2004 was the starting point for what has been and will continue to be a rich spiritual journey. In 2022, I visited Plum Village, France where Thich Nhat Hanh shared mindfulness with the West.

  • Romance

I have spent the last 8 years with an amazing man. He’s french, which means great food at home and annual trips to Paris.

  • Family

Fun with family! I aspire to be the “cool aunt.” I’m always up for jumping on a trampoline, a Giants baseball game, or the activity dujour with my niece and nephew.

  • Giving Back

I believe it’s important to give back to the communities we’re a part of, both locally and across the globe.

  • Biking

Getting outside for a bike ride along the NorCal coastline is a must. Did you know that Americans spend 95% of their time indoors?!?! It’s time to get outside!

  • Outdoors

My preferred vacation involves being outdoors and exploring nature. With a bit of curiosity, there’s so much we can learn from the great outdoors.

The story behind the story

With over two decades of experience in high tech for well known fortune 500 companies, I’ve gotten accustomed to being a top performer in sales and IT. My passion for sales was born out of a desire to sell differently. As an IT buyer at Google, I noticed that many SaaS sellers simply didn’t listen or dig deep enough to understand their customers’ challenges.

With a natural gift for deep listening coupled with a post graduate degree in Communication, I knew I had the chops to do things differently and succeed in the process. In 2010, I decided to change my career trajectory from IT to sales. My vision - to bring a more human approach to sales, with Salesforce as the destination. I landed my #dreamjob as a solution engineer for mid-size companies and never looked back.

In 2016, I started getting antsy. Six years had passed - I had successfully gone from Solution Engineer to Account Executive covering enterprise accounts in SoCal, such as Disney, Experian, Sony, Capital Group, and First American. Coming from a family of educators and counselors, it was in my DNA to help others. I decided to explore leadership as a way to quench my thirst for greater fulfillment and better leverage my innate skills.

When I decide to do something, I got after it with fierce determination. Grit and passion are the secret sauce that propel me forward. With this mindset on my side, I didn’t just decide to become a leader, I went after it full force. First step - get advice from the pros. I expressed my interest in leadership to a highly esteemed sales leader at Salesforce and took her advice to heart. She asked “Do you really know what it takes to be a sales leader?” My sheepish response - “Well…kind of, from the perspective of a seller observing my direct report manager day-to-day.” She sent me on a mission - to get hyper curious and learn from those who came before me. What does it take to be a great sales leader? What are the gotchas to watch out for? I interviewed over 15 sales leaders to understand what it takes to succeed and the challenges along the way. I learned a LOT.

When it took longer than expected to land a VP role, I took matters into my own hands. I invested in my own development through coaching courses and volunteering as a leadership coach at Salesforce. Fast forward to today, in early 2021 I landed a role as a VP for Salesforce’s enterprise sales business unit. I approached the role from a “leader as coach” stance by focusing on empathy, asking powerful questions, and empowering sellers to guide + direct their path to success with supplemental coaching along the way. In my first month in role, other leaders shared “wow, you’re a natural at this.”

But…it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. By the end of the Great Resignation (2021), only 2 of the 7 sellers who had started on the team at the beginning of the fiscal year were left remaining. Every 1-2 months a seller left the company. Hiring and ramping became the norm. Despite these headwinds, the team hit their quota (cue the roar, celebration, and fireworks). While the success in that moment might have felt celebratory, it wasn’t without a cost. I was tired, REALLY tired. During a leadership training course in the fall of 2021, I took a survey on burnout. My score - I was in the bottom 7%. I scored lower than 93% of the survey participants.

At the start of 2022, I made a personal commitment to myself: (1) No more burning out at all costs. It’s time to create sustainable success!, (2) It’s also time to follow my life’s passion with utmost sincerity to myself. No regrets. And now, here I am ready to serve you to be a better leader, high performer, and friend (to yourself, your loved ones, and colleagues) - to succeed, thrive, and achieve fulfillment without burning out.
